Comcast will cut 159 Washington jobs starting Dec. 31, including some in Bellingham

What happened: Comcast told the state it will lay off 159 Washington workers, starting Dec. 31.

Some of the jobs are in Bellingham, including at a regional office on Sequoia Drive. Comcast has not said how many, KGMI reported.

The notice also lists Bremerton, Everett, Olympia, Puyallup, Redmond, Seattle, Spokane and Vancouver, KIRO 7 reported. Some workers are remote.

The layoffs run from Dec. 31 to March 26, 2027.

The largest group is construction and permitting staff. Others include engineers, finance analysts, technicians and supervisors.

Comcast told the state the cuts are part of a companywide redesign, not work moving to contractors. It says it will post more than 1,100 new jobs.

What's next: workers who stay through their last day get severance, the company says. The notice was filed with the state Employment Security Department Oct. 29.
